Almost every time you hear someone's story about leaving the far right, it's first and foremost because they were isolated. Not because someone schooled them in debate, not because they were shown love despite being a Nazi, but because their friends and family ditched their sorry asses, and then all they had were their innately treasonous Nazi friends — and then, inevitably, no one.

So no, turning the other cheek and "setting politics aside" is not the answer. The time for tolerance is long over, if it was ever there to begin with. Isolate the right.

If I had a child, and when they asked me where they came from, I would tell them:

You were created in a top-secret government experiment, in a laboratory. They wanted to make a little boy or girl who can do things like turn invisible, and read minds, and control the weather. One day you'll get your powers.

And as they got older and called me on my shit, I'd tell them I lied to them because:

The real story is even weirder. You came from the inside of a woman. You were the size of a grain of sand, but you grew and grew, and swelled out her stomach, until she couldn't swell anymore and you came out, you had to come out, through her vagina. And she was screaming, and you were screaming even louder, and I was there and I was screaming, because it was terrifying. But that's where you came from.

And then they would never believe another thing I told them ever again.

There are good reasons I am not a parent. But you can be sure I've done my best to fuck up the foster kids whose cases I've managed.

With the latest update to Python, radioactive officially just doesn't work anymore (unless you're on an immutable system, of course). Previously, moving files around worked fine, but now it probably just isn't worth the trouble of figuring out what to put where, so I've had to look for another internet radio player in the CLI.

After quite a few false starts, I found sonicradio. Not sure why this one isn't talked about more; it's absolutely gorgeous and has all the features you could want. Highly recommend. Wish I'd been using it these last few years instead of radioactive.
